Mustang District Roundtable
November 12, 2019
Roundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month (except for June and July) at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, 77079) at 7:00 pm to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas, information on upcoming events and trainings, and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts.

New District Executive
Please join us in welcoming Phil Gurley as the district executive for the Mustang District. His role as district executive will be to provide leadership and support to the volunteers in our district with a focus on district operations, membership recruiting, unit service, family Friends of Scouting, and product sales. Phil grew up in Scouting at the National Capital Area Council in his hometown D.C. After obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, he studied international affairs and Spanish at Elon University in North Carolina. During the summer, he worked at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico as a rock climbing instructor. He also had the opportunity to study abroad in Costa Rica and Guatemala during college. Phil’s professional experience stems from working with small non-profits, specifically agriculture and education programs designed for youth and the broader community. He began his nonprofit experience with AmeriCorps in Vermont, but his most recent opportunity was with a sustainable farm outside of Houston. He’s excited to start working for such an influential organization as the Sam Houston Area Council where he can continue fostering community and working with Houston youth. Phil can be reached at Philip.Gurley@scouting.org.
