The Spirit Award is presented to one or more Scouters in each unit who has made a significant impact in the lives of youth in the unit and/or district. There is a $10 fee for the award. One adult in the unit should be the fee when registering for the district dinner.
Units may select one candidate per year for every 50 Scouts registered with the Boy Scouts of America. (i.e., 1 – 50 Scouts = one nomination, 51 Scouts = two nominations). Anyone may recommend a Scouter for the award. The unit committee selects the candidate(s) based on their knowledge of the candidate’s contributions, personal qualities, etc.
The candidate must be currently registered in the Boy Scouts of America and be appropriately trained (e.g., basic training for their position, Youth Protection Training, University of Scouting, Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow, Commissioner’s Training).
